"The medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2018 la Grave is composed of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. Seductive notions of blueberry compote, black plums and mincemeat pie waft from the glass with hints of chocolate box, pencil shavings and black tea plus a touch of unsmoked cigars. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with juicy black fruits and has a firm frame of rounded tannins with plenty of freshness and a long finish with compelling herbal nuances coming through to lift at the very end."
